Continuing the ‘Season of Impressionists’ series, ANTI:DOTE partners with ARTiSTORY and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston to curate an enchanting fusion of culinary art and Monet’s masterpieces.

The third chapter of ANTI:DOTE’s captivating “Season of Impressionists” afternoon tea series unfolds in collaboration with ARTiSTORY and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. This time, the spotlight shines on the evocative works of French Impressionist painter, Claude Monet.

Available from September 1st to 30th, 2023, Executive Pastry Chef Yong Ming Choong and Senior Sous Chef Jacky Lai have meticulously crafted an afternoon tea menu that transcends the plate. Get ready to be transported into the heart of Monet’s inspiration as his masterpieces come alive through an array of edible artworks presented in an idyllic setting.

Debra LaKind, Senior Director of Intellectual Property & Business Development at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, expresses her delight in this innovative partnership: “‘Monet’s bold vision and vibrant colours are beautifully reflected in the creative culinary presentations of this afternoon tea.'”

Following the resounding success of previous instalments featuring Vincent van Gogh and Hokusai, William J. Haandrikman, Managing Director of Fairmont Singapore and Swissôtel The Stamford, shares his enthusiasm for this artistic collaboration. He highlights the passion and precision poured into each dish by Chef Ming, his talented pastry team (including members of Singapore’s national team), and Chef Jacky, mirroring the dedication Monet himself poured into his art. He expresses his honour in recreating the works of this “inventive, courageous leader of the French Impressionist movement.”

Yizan He, CEO and founder of ARTiSTORY, concludes by applauding the “Season of Impressionists” initiative: “This journey of bringing art and gastronomy together has been exceptional. By honouring Monet’s spirit through culinary artistry, we expand the boundaries of art in the food and celebrate the legacy of Impressionism, an art movement that dared to defy the rules.”

Stepping into ANTI:DOTE, you’re instantly immersed in the world of Claude Monet. A large photo wall showcasing his iconic “Water Lilies” greets you, and variations from this captivating series adorn the space. Look closely and you’ll find renditions of “Charing Cross Bridge” (painted from Monet’s room at The Savoy in London, another Fairmont property!), alongside other mini-artworks and a large mirror at the entrance inscribed with Monet’s famous quote: “The richness I achieve comes from nature, the source of my inspiration.”

The artistic inspiration continues on the menu, meticulously crafted by Chef Jacky with references to Monet’s renowned style. “Charing Cross Bridge” evokes the reflections of sunlight dancing on water through a lavender fog, translated into a rich Pork Pie with tangy cauliflower piccalilli and purple mash. “Woodgatherers at the Edge of the Forest” offers rustic charm with Sous Vide Chicken paired with earthy forest mushrooms and truffle.

The afternoon tea experience continues to be a delightful interplay between art and food. “Field of Poppies Near Giverny” comes alive in a vibrant red and green sandwich featuring Tomato Concasse, kalamata olives, and olive caviar. “Grand Canal, Venice” pays homage to Le Grand Canal with exquisite Boston lobster and avruga caviar on a saffron brioche, transporting you onto the water alongside Monet’s vision. Finally, “Meadow with Haystacks near Giverny” finds expression through an opulent combination of smoked trout, dill-infused cream cheese, and kristal caviar, mirroring the lush serenity of the landscape.

The artistic journey doesn’t end with the savoury courses. The dessert menu is a delightful display of edible masterpieces inspired by Monet’s brilliance. “Ivory Chocolate” offers a decadent creaminess balanced by the vibrancy of a guava, mango, and passion fruit coulis. Similarly, the “Granny Smith Confit” plays with sweet and tangy notes, mimicking Monet’s garden landscapes with basil cream. For a deeper yet refreshing treat, the “Matcha Ganache” envelops a mint sable cookie, while the “Clafoutis” adorned with vanilla and apricot delivers a delightful contrast of crisp and creamy textures. A symphony of textures and colours awaits with the velvety “Pistachio Mascarpone Cream” and bright cherry compote. Guests can also indulge in the precise mastery of the “Raspberry Cream Cheese Macaron” or the “Monet Hazelnut Cocoa Bonbon” with its tantalizing blend of nutty and chocolate flavours. Of course, no afternoon tea is complete without ANTI:DOTE’s signature “Vanilla Scones” served with strawberry marmalade, lemon butter curd, and clotted cream.

For a truly immersive Monet experience, guests can add two optional amuse bouches. “Meadow at Giverny” offers a sensory adventure with delicate cured scallops elevated by the tang of white ponzu and sudachi atop a crisp rice cracker. Alternatively, dive into the “Water Lilies,” a creation featuring barbecued carrot and candied orange gel encased in a spring roll shell.

Complement your artistic culinary exploration with a well-composed cocktail. “Unstoppable Bloom” is an earthy libation featuring yam shochu, elderflower, coffee, sesame, and homemade smoky honey miso. For a refreshing finish, opt for “The Farandole” with shiso gin, yuzu, lychee, lotus root, and honey beer. A non-alcoholic version, “Dancing Lily,” swaps the gin and beer for Lyre’s London Dry and honey soda.

Step into an artistic haven from September 1st to 30th, 2023, as ANTI:DOTE presents its “Season of Impressionists – a Claude Monet-Inspired Afternoon Tea.” This captivating experience unfolds Mondays to Fridays from 3 pm to 5 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays with two seatings (12 pm to 2 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm).

The Savoy, a Fairmont managed hotel, is perfectly located on the River Thames, in the heart of all that London has to offer. The spectacular views across the Thames and of London’s most impressive landmarks inspired Claude Monet to paint his famous series of London bridges as he resided in his suite at The Savoy for the first of three long stays between 1899 and 1901.

Guests who book directly through this website for the Monet-inspired afternoon tea will be automatically entered into an exclusive lucky draw. The lucky winner will enjoy a one-night stay in The Savoy’s Monet Suite, complete with breakfast! The winner will be announced via email after the thematic afternoon tea concludes.
